How to Lose Belly Bulge
The battle of the bulge affects Americans every year as we try dieting and other techniques to get rid of "the gut," but since your belly tends to store fat, it can be one of the last places where you'll show any improvement. Rather than rely on products that claim to melt away your stomach, try these simple weight loss tips:
- Get enough sleep. Did you know that people who are fast asleep lose three times more weight than people who remain awake in bed? A good night's sleep will help rejuvenate your body, keep your metabolism in check, and keep your hormones healthy. If you're sleep deprived, you're more likely to crave fatty foods, too.
- Exercise. Aerobic exercise will burn off belly fat more effectively than almost any other activity. If you can do some type of physical activity, such as swimming, running, cycling, or tennis, for at least 30 minutes a day, 3 to 4 days a week and at a moderate intensity level, you'll burn calories and experience quicker weight loss.
- Stop drinking alcohol. Alcohol is nothing more than empty calories, and it slows down your metabolism and encourages the consumption of unhealthy foods. One beer usually contains 150 calories, so cutting out two beers a day means that you could lose a pound every 10 days.
- Eat your breakfast. Many dieters make the mistake of skipping meals, because they might think that will help them keep calories down. They couldn't be more wrong. Eating breakfast early in the morning gets your body ready for the day. Your metabolism needs fuel for it to work properly; otherwise, it will enter starvation mode and conserve fat. Try not to get fast food if you can help it. Instead, cook some eggs or oatmeal or have some other type of nutritional breakfast.
- Stay hydrated. Your liver must receive enough water in order to help your metabolism work properly. Drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day will keep you hydrated and help you lose that belly fat consistently.
